Unbound Energy Joins Forces With Atomic/MDK Motocross Team, Racers Paul & Jack Carpenter

Atomic/MDK, led by veteran racer/coach Paul, epitomizes the benefits of a strong ethic - something that Unbound Energy drinkers can surely relate to

CORONA, Calif., (July 17, 2008) – Officials at Unbound Energy made a formal announcement today at its SoCal headquarters, announcing that they’ve reached a sponsorship agreement with the Atomic/MDK motocross team, led by veteran racer Paul Carpenter and featuring his cousin, rookie Jack Carpenter . The team will now be known as Atomic/MDK/Unbound for the remaining AMA MX National schedule, as well as the 2009 AMA Supercross season.

“We’re pumped to have Unbound Energy on board with the Atomic/MDK/Unbound program for this summer and the 2009 supercross season,” said Paul Carpenter. “We got this deal going at Glen Helen and since then the Unbound product – Original, Lo-Carb and Energy + Juice – have been a popular item in the pits at our rig. Unbound sets the standard with its industrial strength energy formula and are getting a pretty big following at the Nationals and at supercross. We’re definitely looking forward to representing with them.”

This past weekend pay some big dividends for the Unbound Atomic/MDK program as Paul Carpenter placed 10^th overall at Budds Creek, Md., going 14-9 in his first race back since a second moto injury at Glen Helen. And Jack Carpenter would follow with his best MX National finish EVER, bringing it home in the top 20 with an impressive 16^th place finish in the second moto, his first time racing at Budds.

“Paul Carpenter is an upstart racer/team manager on the MX and supercross tours and has proven he can handle such a major position in the industry,” said Unbound’s Steve Jugan. “Unbound Energy relates well to a guy who works hard and gets results. A guy, who along with his cousin, Jack, we feel will represent the Unbound Energy product very well.

“Unbound Energy is looking forward to a successful MX season, as well as a solid supercross season from the Atomic/MDK/Unbound Energy team!”

This weekend the New York-based team return to their roots in central upstate New York with the running of the Unadilla National. In preparation the Carpenters (no relation the singing duo) have been racing one of their old haunts, the Broome-Tioga MX Sports Center in Binghamton, former home of the Broome-Tioga pro MX National.

“Yeah, first time I’ve ridden here since the last National in ’06,” said Paul Carpenter. “Felt good to get out and ride on some familiar dirt. Unadilla should be the same way, although I heard they changed the track around a bunch.”

Next up for the Atomic/MDK/Unbound Energy team is this Sunday’s running of the Unadilla Outdoor National (New Berlin, N.Y.), round eight of the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Hey everybody,

I want to start out by apologizing to everyone at RedBud, my team at Yamaha of Troy and the entire MX industry on what not only happened this past weekend, but also for the rest of the crap I’ve been involved with this past year.

Things are pretty much rock bottom for me right now. I was on top of the world when I won the Western Lites title a couple months ago and now I’m sitting here feeling like crap. I’ve got my side of the story regarding what went down at RedBud, yeah, but there’s no sense in telling it. The simple answer is I put myself into a situation that I shouldn’t have been in and because of that I’ve let a bunch of people down.

I’ve run into some problems away from the track that have affected my results and it’s become apparent that I’ve got to address them. I am taking action to deal with these issues and to make sure incidents like what happened this past weekend don’t occur again. I’m calling on people that have been there with me through thick and thin, relying on them to help me with my problems and get me on back on track as I’ve come to realize these are things I can’t handle myself.

Motocross is my life. I love the sport and don’t know where I’d be without it. And being a champion I’m constantly in the spotlight and my every move – good or bad – is discussed and debated online and in the press. It’s a lot to handle and, in all honesty, I’ve had a bad year dealing with it.

But that’s going to change. I am going to try to turn this into positive and use this opportunity to fix the things that are causing these problems in the first place.

Again, I’m extremely sorry for my actions. To guys like my agent, Scott Sepkovic, and to Scott Paul, who owns Yamaha of Troy. Also, to Chris McAvoy, my team manager, and Keith McCarty at Yamaha, plus my mom and all the guys at the AMA who’ve had to put up with my behavior, I’m sorry. Very, very sorry.

But most of all I want to apologize to my fans. If I’d have bought a ticket to see my favorite guy race at RedBud and he got kicked off the property for getting in a fight the day before I’d be mad as hell. So to all my fans and fans of motocross in general, I’m going to take the extra step to make sure we’re cool again. I promise to make amends to you guys because there’s nothing better than seeing you pumped up when I’m doing well – and still having my back when I’m not doing so well, like right now.

I’m not making any excuses. I screwed up good this past weekend and I’m prepared to do what it takes to get back where I was when I won the supercross title. I’m no angel and never will be. But what I will be is responsible for my actions, take the right measures to correct things and learn from my mistakes.

AMA Racing Suspends Motocross Rider Jason Lawrence

PICKERINGTON, Ohio—The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced today that it has suspended professional motocross rider Jason Lawrence for unacceptable behavior detrimental to the sport. According to AMA officials, Lawrence was arrested for disorderly conduct at Red Bud Track & Trail on July 4 while in Buchanan, Michigan, for round six of the AMA Toyota Motocross Series Presented by FMF. The incident follows a penalty and suspended fine issued in June for conduct detrimental to the sport at the Freestone County Raceway during round three of the series in Wortham, Texas.

“Mr. Lawrence is suspended indefinitely,” said AMA Director of Motocross/Supercross/ATV Ryan Holliday. “In addition, the $25,000 fine that was issued after the June incident and suspended contingent upon the successful completion of a one-year probation will now be imposed.” Holliday added that the AMA would not reconsider Lawrence’s status until the conclusion of the 2008 season.

Lawrence was notified of the suspension at the race on July 5.

AMA approves sale of AMA Pro Racing to Daytona Motorsports Group

Press Release

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced today that the Association’s Board of Directors has unanimously approved the final agreement regarding the sale of certain of its AMA Pro Racing properties to the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG) based in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Under the terms of the sale, DMG will own the sanctioning, promotional and management rights to AMA Pro Racing. The sale does not include the rights to the AMA Supercross and AMA Arenacross Series, which are held by Live Nation and will continue to be sanctioned by the AMA.

The AMA and DMG will provide additional information in a joint announcement at a later date.

DJ Qualified for Loretta’s on Fathers Day June 15.(What A Great Fathers Day Gift)
5th Place Overall in Motocross C on his Loco Mx.com Kawasaki KX450.
He had a hard time in the Lites Class with all that Sand, Kept going down But finished 10th overall in Lites C Stock on his ProSource Kawasaki KX250.
Then in the Lites C Mod where he won his Area Qualifier, Well He was the Second race to Begin with. Crashed in the Pile in the First Right Hand Turn. Finished 22nd. To Make a Long story short,we picked the classes to try to Go to Loretta with … Motocross C & Lites C Stock Class.
He Was Determined, He was upset about the bad day he was having & Finally Just Let It All Hang Out. He Wanted it BADD. He Was Going To Loretta’s.. He Knew He Could Beat Those Guys… So He Got Focused, Got some Good Starts & Charged. The Best—-I’ve Ever Seen him Ride this FAST. He Used his head, Stayed Up & On The Gas.
He Deserves to Go To Lorettas. He Earned It Himself on the Bike. It was so Nerve Racking for Me, I’M SO PROUD OF DJ

What's Up In Da Loco Mafia????

Things are heating up already with Loretta’s right around the corner. Mafia members are qualifying all over the country with some even taking the top shelf. Please let us know if you have qualified for LL’s this year. We want to know what place you qualified in and where the race was. The great out doors is well under way and if you read my last post on LocoMafia.com you might have read a few things about Mike Alessi. Predictably, James Stewart is on top of the box, but Mike is right there waiting for him to make a mistake. Good to see the Suzuki still running up front.

Over the weekend Mafia member Hunter Mims qualified for LL’s at Muddy Creek with a 5^th place finish in MX stock B along with Jacob Conn taking 3^rd in MX stock C. Congrats go out to DJ Brazelton as well. He took a long drive to Minnesota for the weekend and came home with a successful hit qualifying for MXC as well.

Keep and eye on the Loco Mafia home page. Coming soon Mafia members can access the Godfather’s Vault. In this Vault you will be able to get items that LocoMx.com is blowing out to make room. Want to attend MTF (Millsaps Training Facility) for a MX School? Is the cost of fuel keeping you from making the trip to GA?

Well we have the answer for you!

MTF (Millsaps Training Facility) will be offering a 3 day motocross camp July 9-11 at Midway MX in Kellogg, MN. This will be the first time MTF trainers have conducted their popular training camps away from Cairo, Georgia. If you have ever considered doing an MTF camp but couldn’t get down there now is your opportunity to experience what others have called “the best training in MX”.

The three day camp will include instruction in starts, braking, corners, jumps and whoops and will be conducted by MTF trainers, Bryan Johnson (AMA Pro Racer for Butler Brothers MX) and Charles Ellis. They are two of MTF’s top trainers and both are current pro riders.

Myers Racing picked the July 9-11 date mainly for the local racers going to Loretta Lynn’s. This date is 2 weeks prior to them leaving for the national and is a great opportunity for them to hone their skills prior to taking on the nations best riders!

The cost of the camp is $975 and includes all on track instruction, food and a place to park at the track. We cannot offer refunds but we will credit you to another MTF camp if you are injured and unable to ride.

Please note only bikes 85cc and larger are eligible to participate in this camp.

Myers Racing Inc will be managing the school and processing the registration. There is a minimum of 20 riders to hold the event with maximum of 30. If the max of 30 riders is met, a third trainer from MTF will be present to maintain a 10:1 ratio.
